Item Description & Information

Pair of very near similar French Castelnaudary glazed earthenware jardinières or plant pots. Possibly late 19th century or early 20th century.

Full of rustic elegance and charm, characteristic of traditional French country pottery. Each with predominantly a rich, vibrant emerald green, achieved through a glossy lead glaze revealing a lighter, reddish-brown terracotta body underneath in areas.

Each pot features a sturdy, footed base that flares out slightly before tapering inward to form the main body. The body then widens again towards the rim. Two prominent, ear-shaped handles that curve gracefully upwards and outwards from the upper part of the body, just below the rim. These handles are robust and functional.

Measurements: 32 cm (D); 40 cm (H).
