Item Description & Information

The Illustrated Bouquet, consisting of Figures with Descriptions of New Flowers, published in three volumes between 1857 and 1861.

Compiled by the prominent London nurserymen Edward George Henderson (1783–1876) and his son Andrew Henderson (1823–1906), this work showcased the newest and most fashionable flowers cultivated in their nurseries. A substantial selection of 49 hand-coloured lithograph plates, many heightened with gum arabic and protected by tissue guards, feature vibrant and finely detailed depictions of camellias, rhododendrons, azaleas, pelargoniums, lilies, and other prized Victorian exotics.

This copy is bound as two volumes in one in contemporary green half morocco and also includes a folding view and plan of the Hendersons’ Horticultural Establishment.
