A large sized 19th century bronze of the Greek God Hermes shown wearing his winged helmet, tying his left sandal (pédila) beside a rock with bulrushes, his winged caduceus lying beside his right foot.
Measurements: Height: 33 cm x Length: 23 cm
The sculptures of Hermes Fastening his Sandal, which exist in several versions, are all variations or inspired by the Roman marble copies of a lost original Greek bronze. Hermes' sandals, called pédila by the Greeks were described as golden with the speed of the wind.
