Item Description & Information

Victorian folding tea table (third quarter 19th-century, c. 1850–1875) is a quintessential example of mid-Victorian craftsmanship, blending practicality with refined neoclassical detailing. Perfect for afternoon tea service, light refreshments, or as a versatile occasional table in drawing rooms, parlors, hallways, or modern living spaces, its compact swivel/tilt-top design saves space while delivering timeless charm.

Handcrafted from richly figured solid mahogany with a deep, warm aged patina that highlights the wood's natural grain and luster, the table features a rounded oblong (elliptical) swivel top that rotates and lays flat for use. The top sits over a cushion-moulded frieze (softly profiled edge) for subtle sophistication.

Raised on a graceful faceted baluster stem (multi-sided turned column with elegant tapering), the base includes a concave platform accented with delicate scrollwork carving, flowing into downcurved legs (sabre-style) ending in decorative roundels and fitted with inset castors—allowing smooth mobility across floors while protecting surfaces.

Measurements: 77.5 cm (H); 86 (W); 42.5 cm (D).
