Antique Victorian Creamware Footbath by Spode
Item Description & Information
An attractive oval footbath in classic cream-coloured earthenware, produced by Spode during the Victorian period.
The piece features a generous roll-over rim, subtle raised horizontal banding to the exterior, and a pair of gracefully formed loop handles positioned at either end. The gently sloping sides and rounded base are typical of mid-century domestic sanitary ware designed for both practicality and restrained elegance.
Clearly stamped “SPODE” to the underside (impressed mark).
This form represents a classic example of Spode’s utilitarian production in the 1840s–1860s, when creamware remained a popular and economical material for bedroom and bathing accessories in middle- and upper-class Victorian households.
Measurements: 46 cm (W).
