Two bold scrolling acanthus handles flank the sides, while the piece rises from a shaped pedestal base enriched with leaf moulding and bead decoration. The surface retains its original distressed verdigris-green paint with generous gilt highlighting, creating a beautiful aged patina that enhances its architectural presence.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"auto\"\u003eThese grand urns, often referred to as “Venetian Grotto” or “Florentine” style, were extremely popular in the 19th century for both interior decoration and formal gardens.
